The LDT-5100 offers precise low-noise, high-stability current and temperature control for laser diodes and
photodetectors using peltier thermoelectric devices. The controller is designed specifically to meet the
needs of OEM temperature control applications.
Using the temperature-dependent resistance of a thermistor as feedback, the instrument stabilizes temperature
by driving current to a thermoelectric (TE) device, proportional to the difference between actual and set-point
resistance. The current source of the LDT-5100 is bipolar for heating or cooling the load. With a hybrid P-I
control loop, the controller delivers highly stable temperatures and fast settling times.
Desired temperatures are set by adjusting an on-board trimpot to an equivalent thermistor resistance or by
connecting an external reference resistor for an even more precise setpoint.
For a complete laser diode OEM controller, the LDT-5100 can be linked with ILX's LDX-3100 OEM laser diode current
source. These products can be used together or independently and are pin-compatible with ILX Lightwave laboratory
instruments and laser diode mounts.
